How to Save Twitter Videos as MP4

X's player itself streams video as HLS — a playlist of small segments, not one file. Saving it as a normal MP4 means something has to assemble that playlist into a single file first.

How it works

No extension and no login. Copy a public X link, paste it above, then save the MP4 X already encoded.

  1. 1

    Copy the link on X

Open the tweet or live. Tap Share (or the three dots), then Copy link. Extra bits like ?s=20 are fine — we read the post id.

Drop the URL in the field on this page and press Extract. Public videos, GIFs, photos and lives are read the same way.

    Download the MP4

Choose 1080p, 720p or a lighter MP4. Or save just the soundtrack as MP3. Lives can be watched first; replay buttons appear when they end.

If Extract finds nothing, the post is private, deleted, or not public media. Open the same link logged out on X to check.

Why the playlist link isn't enough

For a live broadcast or its replay specifically, X streams exclusively over HLS — there's no single progressive MP4 URL sitting behind it to copy. Getting a downloadable file means fetching every segment the playlist points to and joining them into one MP4 — which is what happens automatically here.

Regular tweet videos (not lives) usually do have a direct MP4 available at multiple qualities, so those download even more directly — same end result either way: one MP4 file, no playlist.

Every MP4 variant the source exposes, up to 1080p.

Lives

Watch while it is live, then save the replay.

FAQ

What's wrong with just saving the .m3u8 link?
An M3U8 is a text playlist pointing at dozens of tiny video segments — it's not a video file itself, and most media players, editors, and phones can't open it directly the way they open an MP4.
Does this tool ever give WEBM or MKV instead of MP4?
No — every video and GIF download here comes back as MP4 specifically, since that's the one format that opens on essentially every device without a plugin.
Will the MP4 open in my video editor?
Yes — standard H.264 MP4 is the default import format for every mainstream editor (Premiere, Final Cut, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve), so no conversion step is needed before editing.
