Picking the highest quality a post actually has

How to Download Twitter Videos in HD

After pasting a link, every resolution the post has shows up as its own button, sorted highest first — HD just means picking that top one instead of a smaller file.

How it works

No extension and no login. Copy a public X link, paste it above, then save the MP4 X already encoded.

  1. 1

    Copy the link on X

Open the tweet or live. Tap Share (or the three dots), then Copy link. Extra bits like ?s=20 are fine — we read the post id.

    Paste and extract

Drop the URL in the field on this page and press Extract. Public videos, GIFs, photos and lives are read the same way.

    Download the MP4

Choose 1080p, 720p or a lighter MP4. Or save just the soundtrack as MP3. Lives can be watched first; replay buttons appear when they end.

If Extract finds nothing, the post is private, deleted, or not public media. Open the same link logged out on X to check.

Reading the quality list

Buttons are ordered highest resolution first, so the top option is always the best this particular post has — there's no hidden higher tier behind an account or a paid option.

Live broadcast replays are the one case where quality can be inconsistent: X occasionally re-encodes a finished live into fewer renditions than a normal upload, so a replay might cap out lower than you'd expect even from an otherwise sharp stream.

Native quality

Every MP4 variant the source exposes, up to 1080p.

Lives

Watch while it is live, then save the replay.

FAQ

Why does one tweet offer 1080p and another only 480p?
It depends entirely on what the original poster uploaded and how X's transcoder processed it — a phone video shot in 4K might still only get served at 1080p max, while an already-compressed repost may top out much lower.
Can this upscale a low-quality video to HD?
No — nothing can genuinely add detail that isn't in the source. This tool only pulls whatever qualities X already generated; it doesn't re-encode or upscale anything.
Does picking a lower quality make the download faster?
Yes — a 360p file is a fraction of the size of the 1080p version of the same clip, so pick a lower quality on purpose when you just need something small and don't care about detail.
