Missing audio: four possible causes
Before blaming the download, check whether the original post had sound at all — that decides everything.
Download only content you own or have permission to use. Public posts only; we store no videos. Responsible use
No extension and no login. Copy a public X link, paste it above, then save the MP4 X already encoded.
Open the tweet or live. Tap Share (or the three dots), then Copy link. Extra bits like ?s=20 are fine — we read the post id.

Drop the URL in the field on this page and press Extract. Public videos, GIFs, photos and lives are read the same way.
Choose 1080p, 720p or a lighter MP4. Or save just the soundtrack as MP3. Lives can be watched first; replay buttons appear when they end.
If Extract finds nothing, the post is private, deleted, or not public media. Open the same link logged out on X to check.
The post has no audio track. GIFs are always silent, and many clips — screen recordings with the microphone off, edited loops, muted exports — were uploaded without sound. A download keeps exactly what the original has, so a silent post gives a silent MP4. Try Download MP3 audio: if the clip has no sound, the tool says “This clip has no audio track.”
X plays timeline videos muted. In the app and on the site, autoplay starts without sound until you tap the speaker icon. If the video is silent only while scrolling, that’s autoplay, not a problem with the file.
Your device is muting it. On iPhone check the volume buttons and the Control Center volume; on Android raise Media volume (not just Ringer). A paired Bluetooth speaker or earbuds can also take the sound.
The downloaded file plays silent in one app only. Open it in another player such as VLC, or try a lower quality: the audio is the same in every rendition. If it’s silent everywhere, the original had no sound.

No. It saves the same file X serves, audio included. Nothing is stripped or re-encoded.
Extract the post and try Download MP3 audio. If the clip has no audio track you’ll get that message instead of a file.
Usually the player or the device volume. Try another player; if other videos play with sound there, the original post is silent.
