TwitterDownloaderX

How TwitterDownloaderX compares

There are dozens of free X (Twitter) video downloaders, and most of them look alike from the outside: a box, a button, an MP4. The differences that matter are elsewhere. Some have a browser extension or an Android app. Some are translated into thirty languages. One is the free front end of a paid data API. Some carry heavy advertising, others none at all. Their privacy policies range from a page of boilerplate to a detailed list of what is logged and for how long.

These pages compare TwitterDownloaderX with six of the services people most often mention to us. Each one is written around what makes that particular competitor different, rather than a fill-in-the-blanks template, and each one says plainly where the other service is the better choice. We only report what we could check ourselves on the public pages, on the visit date given at the top of each article. We did not run speed benchmarks, and we do not quote user numbers we cannot verify.

Disclosure: TwitterDownloaderX is our own site, written and run by Karim. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any service compared here, or by X Corp. Product names are used only to identify the services. Every comparison is based on what we could see on the public pages on the visit date shown, and services change often.

How we compare

For every service we loaded the homepage and the privacy policy with a normal desktop browser user agent and recorded what the HTML itself shows: the formats and features the page offers, links to extensions, apps or APIs, the languages it is published in, the advertising and analytics scripts it loads, how many script files it requests, and how large the page is. Ads injected later by JavaScript are not always visible this way, so we describe ad set-ups by the networks we found, not by counting ads on screen.

For our own column we describe what the code actually does, not what a marketing page says. If you think we got something wrong about your service, or the service has changed, please tell us through the contact page and we will re-check and correct the page.
