How to Download Twitter Videos on iPhone

iOS won't let you long-press-save a tweet's video the way it saves an image — there's no video file exposed to the OS until you actually download one.

The actual steps on iOS

  1. In the X/Twitter app or Safari, open the post and tap Share → Copy Link.
  2. Open Safari, come to this page, and paste the link into the box above, then tap Extract.
  3. Tap a quality's download button. Safari downloads it in the background — a small arrow icon appears near the address bar when it's done.
  4. Tap that download icon, then the file, to open it in the Files app — from there you can move it into Photos or share it anywhere else.

FAQ

Why can't I just long-press and save the video like a photo?
Long-press-save only works on an <img>; a tweet's video is a player, not an image element, so iOS has nothing to save from the page itself. You need the actual file first.
Where does the download go on iPhone?
Safari puts it in the Downloads folder inside the Files app by default. From there you can move it into Photos, AirDrop it, or share it to another app.
Do I need to install an app from the App Store?
No. This runs as a normal Safari page — tap Share → Add to Home Screen for a one-tap icon if you'll use it often, nothing to download from the App Store.
