Twitter GIF Downloader

Use the post link, not a profile or search page. The post must be public.

1. In X or Twitter, open the post with the animated GIF and choose Share → Copy link.
2. Paste that link into the downloader above and select Extract.
3. Find the GIF item in the results and choose its download button. If the post has several media items, check each result card.

The tool reads the public post and returns the media X makes available. It cannot retrieve a GIF from a protected account or a post that has been deleted.

X serves animated GIF posts as short, silent MP4 videos. The downloader saves that MP4 file; it does not re-encode it or turn it into a traditional .gif. The file has no sound because the source GIF has no audio track.

MP4 is usually smaller than an animated .gif at similar dimensions, but it behaves as a video. X loops it in the timeline; another app may play it once unless its player repeats videos.

Keep the MP4 when you want the same compact clip X serves or plan to share it in a video app. Convert it only when the site you are posting to accepts animated images but not video, such as an older forum or email client.

• MP4: keeps X’s source file and colors; it is generally smaller, but the receiving player controls whether it loops.
• .gif: works in places that support animated images; conversion can make the file larger and reduce color detail because GIF uses a limited palette.

The GIF must be attached to a public X post. Protected accounts, deleted posts, and links to GIFs hosted on another site are not available to this downloader. Open the post while logged out on X; if its media is not visible there, it will not appear in the results here either.
