TwitterDownloaderX vs TwitterVideoDownloader.com

TwitterVideoDownloader.com has a name that describes exactly what it does, and that has been its whole strategy for years. The copyright line in its footer starts in 2016, long before Twitter became X, and the site still looks much as you would expect from that era: a heading, a paste box, a Download button and a few paragraphs of instructions. Searching "twitter video downloader" has led people to it for a decade.

TwitterDownloaderX, the site we run, is much newer. This page compares the two honestly. We checked TwitterVideoDownloader.com on October 14, 2026, and everything below about it comes from what its public pages showed that day.

A decade of doing one thing

Age is worth something on the web. A site that has worked for ten years has survived several changes to how Twitter and X deliver video, and many people simply trust a name they have used before. When we loaded the English homepage, the visible text came to roughly 400 words. There is no language menu, no blog, no list of extra tools. The footer links to an About page, the privacy policy and one related site, an online video compressor from the same makers, who describe themselves as network engineers.

That minimalism is a real virtue. If all you want is to save one video and leave, there is nothing to distract you. You paste, you click, you save.

The footer's date range does end in 2023, so we cannot tell from the page alone how recently it has been worked on. It was working and online on our visit date.

What the page tells you about formats

The homepage promises videos and GIFs from tweets, saved as MP4. It does not mention MP3 audio, photo downloads, quality choices or live broadcasts. We are not saying those things never happen behind the button; we are saying the page does not advertise them, so you should not count on them.

TwitterDownloaderX handles several more cases in the same box:

• Video in every quality X stores for that post, each labelled (1080p, 720p, 480p and so on).
• GIFs, saved as the small looping MP4 that X actually keeps.
• Photos, requested at original size instead of the compressed timeline preview.
• MP3, converted from the video inside your own browser.
• Live broadcasts, as an MP4 replay once X publishes it.

More features also mean more on the page, and some people prefer the older approach.

The ad before the download

The most noticeable difference is how each site pays its bills. TwitterVideoDownloader.com is open about its costs. A banner on the homepage says the site is free but "costs about $2,000/month in servers & API fees" and invites a tip through Buy Me a Coffee. Directly under the paste box it warns: "A short ad may play before your download."

In the HTML we found code for Google's ad-serving tag (securepubads.g.doubleclick.net), an Ezoic site-verification tag, and Google Analytics. Ezoic is an ad-management platform that sites use to run and test ad placements. We did not sit through enough downloads to describe how often the ad appears, so we will only repeat the site's own warning.

TwitterDownloaderX loads the Google AdSense script on its English pages and Google Analytics 4 after the page has finished loading. We do not play an ad before your file, and we have not added pop-up or push-notification ad networks. We are not claiming moral superiority: running servers costs money, and every free downloader has to fund itself somehow. The difference is simply where the ad sits in your path to the file.

Side-by-side

Both pages are light. Theirs carries a little less text, ours a few fewer script files. Neither is heavy by modern standards, and on a normal connection you are unlikely to feel the difference.

Privacy, briefly

Its privacy policy is short and general. It says the site may collect non-personal information such as browser name and computer type through Google Analytics, and that it may use cookies "to enhance User experience". It does not go into what happens to the links you paste.

Our privacy policy states that pasted links and the media are not stored on our servers after your request is served, explains what Google AdSense, Analytics and Cloudflare can see, and notes that your recent-downloads list sits only in your browser. If privacy is your main concern, read both policies yourself; a policy is a promise, not something either of us can prove to you from the outside.

Where TwitterVideoDownloader.com is better

• Track record. Ten years of doing one job is something we cannot claim.
• Nothing to learn. One box, one button, a few lines of help. No menus or options.
• Openness about costs. Telling visitors what the site costs to run is unusual and honest.
• Memorable name. You can type it from memory.

Where TwitterDownloaderX is better

• More kinds of media: photos, MP3 and live replays as well as video and GIFs.
• A clear quality choice, labelled so vertical phone videos don't look like they are missing HD.
• No ad played before the download.
• Help when things go wrong: dedicated pages for videos that won't download, videos with no sound and saving on iPhone or Android.
• A recent-downloads list on your own device.

Who should choose which

TwitterVideoDownloader.com suits you if you save a video now and then, want the plainest possible page, and don't mind the occasional ad before the file. It is also a sensible fallback if another downloader is struggling with a post.

TwitterDownloaderX suits you if you want to choose a quality, save photos or audio, grab a finished live broadcast, or need step-by-step help for your phone. If you just want one MP4 and the simplest page you can find, the older site does that job well.

Frequently asked questions

Is TwitterVideoDownloader.com the official X downloader?

No. X does not offer an official downloader website. TwitterVideoDownloader.com, like TwitterDownloaderX, is an independent third-party tool. We have no connection with it.

Does TwitterVideoDownloader.com show ads?

Its homepage says "A short ad may play before your download", and its HTML includes Google ad-serving and Ezoic verification code. TwitterDownloaderX also shows Google AdSense ads, but not before your download.

Can TwitterVideoDownloader.com save photos or MP3?

Its homepage, as of October 14, 2026, advertises videos and GIFs only. TwitterDownloaderX supports photos at original size and MP3 audio.

Which site is faster?

We have not run speed tests and won't guess. Both homepages are around 41 to 43 KB of HTML, and in practice how fast a download feels mostly depends on your connection and the size of the video.

Do either of them keep the videos I download?

Both say the files come from X's own servers rather than being hosted by the site. Our privacy policy adds that pasted links and media are not kept after your request. Theirs does not address pasted links specifically.
