Download X videos on Android with Chrome
On Android, Chrome drops the MP4 into the shared Download folder, and most gallery apps pick it up from there on their own. You don't need an APK or a downloader app from the Play Store.

Download an X video with Chrome on Android phone
- Copy the link from X. Tap the share icon on the post › Copy link.
- Paste into TwitterDownloaderX. Open the site in Chrome, tap Paste (or long-press the box) and tap Extract.
- Pick a quality. Tap 720p or 1080p. Chrome shows a small bar and a notification while it downloads.
- Open it. Tap Open in the bar or in the “Download complete” notification.
- Find it in your gallery. Open your gallery or Google Photos: the clip shows under the Download album or folder.
Where the file ends up on Android phone
Chrome saves to /storage/emulated/0/Download, the same Download folder every app can read. Files by Google lists it under Downloads; Samsung, Xiaomi and other file managers call it Download or Downloads.
Google Photos shows device folders under Library › Photos on device; turn on backup for the Download folder if you want the clip in your cloud library too. If you'd rather save to an SD card, enable Settings › Downloads › Ask where to save files in Chrome and pick the card each time.
Chrome on Android phone: gotchas we ran into
- “Download file again?”. If you save the same post twice, Chrome asks before writing a second copy with (1) in the name. Choose Download only if you want both.
- Incognito downloads aren't private. Files saved from an Incognito tab are normal files in Download, visible to every app.
- Storage permission on old Android. On Android 9 and earlier, Chrome may ask for storage permission the first time it downloads; allow it or the download fails.
- Battery savers. Aggressive battery modes on some phones pause downloads when the screen is off. Keep Chrome in the foreground for long replays.
After the download
The file name keeps the account, post ID and quality (user_1234567890_720p.mp4), so you can tell versions apart in the Download folder. Rename it in your file manager if you want something more readable.

Chrome's download list and what “Download pending” means
Chrome for Android sometimes shows a download as pending when the phone is on a metered connection, in battery saver, or when Chrome was sent to the background before the transfer started. Open Chrome's ⋮ › Downloads screen and tap the item to resume it; leaving the tab in the foreground until the notification shows progress avoids the stall.
The same screen lets you rename or share a finished MP4 without opening a file manager. Our file names follow the pattern account_postID_quality.mp4, so a quick search for the account name in Downloads finds every clip you saved from it.
Questions people ask
Do I need an app to download X videos on Android?
No. Chrome downloads the MP4 directly. Apps and APKs add permissions and ads you don't need.
Why isn't the video in my gallery?
Some galleries refresh slowly or hide the Download folder. Open it from Chrome's Downloads or Files and it will be indexed.
Can I download X videos to an SD card?
Yes: turn on Ask where to save files in Chrome's download settings and choose the card.
