“X Spaces are audio-only and not supported yet.”
People search for an X Spaces downloader a lot, so we're upfront: the parser recognizes x.com/i/spaces/… links and stops with this message. Spaces are live audio rooms with a different delivery system from video posts.

- spaces
- Where it appears

- No.
How to fix it
- If you hosted the Space. Spaces you recorded as host are stored with your account. X's options for keeping and downloading recordings have changed over time; check the Spaces settings and your X data archive.
- If it was a video broadcast. Make sure the link is an /i/broadcasts/ link or the post that shares it, then paste that instead.
- Ask the host. Many hosts publish recordings or podcasts afterwards. Asking is also the clean way to get permission.
What this message means
A Spaces link carries a Space ID, not a post ID. Our extractor only handles posts and live video broadcasts (/i/broadcasts/…), so instead of failing with a confusing error, it tells you Spaces aren't supported.
Live video broadcasts are a different product and do work: watch them while they run, and download the replay as MP4 when it ends.
Why it happens
- You pasted a Space link. Links containing /i/spaces/ are always answered with this message.
- A post that only shares a Space. A post linking to a Space has no video of its own; you'd get “no downloadable media” instead.
What a Space recording actually is
Spaces are live audio rooms. When the host enables recording, X keeps an audio stream with no video track, served through a different system from post videos and broadcasts. Our extractor is built around post IDs and video broadcasts, so a Spaces ID has nothing for it to read. Rather than try and fail later, the link check stops at the /i/spaces/ pattern and shows this message.
If you hosted the Space, X lets hosts get their own recordings back through the account data archive. Listeners who need a quote from a Space can take notes or ask the host for the file. Screen- or audio-recording someone else's Space can also run into consent rules, depending on where you live and how you use the recording.
Video broadcasts are different: a link containing /i/broadcasts/ is a live video, and once it ends, its replay downloads like any other post video.
Links shared from inside a Space that point to a regular post (for example a pinned post in the Space) are ordinary post links and work normally; only the Space link itself is refused.
Questions people ask
Will you add X Spaces downloads?
Maybe later. It needs separate work and it must stay public-only, like everything else here.
Can I record a Space with my phone instead?
Screen recording captures it, but recording people without consent can be illegal where you live.
Are live video broadcasts supported?
Yes. See the live downloader and HLS replay format.
