Error · invalid_url
“Paste a public x.com or twitter.com post URL”
You see this when the downloader can't find a post ID in what you pasted. It is checked instantly in our parser, before we contact X, so it is always about the link itself, never about the video.

Error details
- Message on screen
- “Paste a public x.com or twitter.com post URL.”
- Internal code
- invalid_url
- Where it appears
- Link check, before anything is fetched (also for an empty box or a t.co link that can't be resolved)
- HTTP status
- 400 from /api/extract
- Does retrying help?
- No. Fix the link first.
How to fix it
- Open the post itself. Tap the post so it opens on its own screen; the address then contains
/status/and a number. - Use Share › Copy link. X's own Copy link always gives a URL the parser accepts, including ones ending in
?s=20. - Paste only the link. Clear the box, paste again and check the text starts with https://x.com/ or https://twitter.com/.
- For a short link, open it first. Open the t.co link in your browser. If it lands on an X post, copy that address instead.
What this message means
Every X video belongs to a post, and every post has a numeric ID (the long number after /status/). The parser accepts any link that contains that ID: x.com/user/status/…, twitter.com/…, mobile.twitter.com/…, /i/web/status/…, fxtwitter and vxtwitter links, a bare ID, a t.co short link or a live broadcast link (/i/broadcasts/…). If none of those patterns match, you get this message.
The same message appears when the box is empty, and when a t.co link redirects somewhere that isn't an X post (for example a news article). In that last case the internal message is “Could not resolve that short link”.
Why it happens
- A profile or timeline link.
x.com/usernamepoints at an account, not a post. Open the post itself and copy its link. - A search, list, community or bookmark page. These pages hold many posts. There is no single video to pick.
- Text copied around the link. Copying “Check this out https://x.com/…” works, but a link broken across lines or with characters inserted in the middle won't.
- A t.co link to another website. Short links in posts often lead to YouTube or articles. We follow the redirect, and if it doesn't end on an X post we stop.
- A link from another platform. Instagram, TikTok or Threads links aren't X posts.
When it is not this error
If the link looks right but you get “Post not found”, the link is fine and the post is gone or hidden: see post not found. If the link is a Spaces link, the message is different: see Spaces not supported.
Questions people ask
Does the ?s=20 at the end of the link cause this error?
No. Parameters like ?s= and ?t= are ignored; only the post ID matters.
Can I paste just the post ID?
Yes, a bare numeric ID of 5–25 digits is accepted.
Do fxtwitter or vxtwitter links work?
Yes, as well as fixupx and fixvx: they contain the same post ID.
