Download X videos with Samsung Internet

Samsung Internet is the default browser on most Galaxy phones and it handles downloads its own way: a separate download history, its own setting for where files go, and Samsung Gallery as the natural place to watch the clip.

  3. Choose the quality. Tap a quality button. Samsung Internet shows a download pop-up; confirm Download if it asks.

  5. Watch it in Gallery. Open Samsung Gallery › Albums › Download. The clip is there with its original file name.

Where the file ends up on Samsung Galaxy

By default the file goes to Internal storage › Download, shown in the My Files app as Downloads. Samsung Gallery creates a Download album automatically, so there is nothing to move.

To save to a microSD card, Samsung Internet has a setting under Settings › Sites and downloads › Save downloaded files to. Pick SD card there; the wording can differ slightly between One UI versions.

Samsung Internet on Samsung Galaxy: gotchas we ran into

  • Secret mode. Downloads made in Secret mode can be kept in a separate, locked place depending on your settings. If you can't find a clip, check the downloads list while Secret mode is on.
  • Content blockers. Ad-block add-ons for Samsung Internet don't block the file itself, but a very strict one can block the page script; if Extract does nothing, disable the blocker for this site.
  • Floating video buttons. Samsung Internet may overlay its own buttons on playing videos. They're for the browser's player and don't affect our download.
  • Two browsers, two histories. If you also use Chrome, each browser keeps its own downloads list, but both save to the same Download folder.

After the download

Samsung Gallery lets you trim the clip (edit › trim) without another app, which helps with WhatsApp status length limits.

Galaxy phones with Quick Share can send the MP4 to a nearby Galaxy device or PC without compression.

Content blockers and the My Files app

Samsung Internet supports ad-blocking add-ons. They don't normally interfere, but an aggressive filter list can block the request our page makes to fetch the post, which looks like the Extract button spinning forever. If that happens, allow the site in the blocker's settings and try again.

Outside the browser, Galaxy phones have the My Files app: open it and tap the Downloads category to see every MP4 sorted by date, move clips to a folder or to an SD card, or delete duplicates in bulk. Gallery picks up files you move into DCIM or Pictures folders as well.

Questions people ask

Where does Samsung Internet save downloads?

In Internal storage › Download, visible in My Files › Downloads and in the Download album in Gallery.

Can I change Samsung Internet's download location?

Yes, in Settings › Sites and downloads › Save downloaded files to (One UI wording may vary).

Is Samsung Internet slower than Chrome for this?

No. The file comes from the same server; speed depends on your connection.
